The Second Annual Day at the Races
Hollywood Park - June 30, 2007

The Second Annual Day at the Races was held at Hollywood Park on June 30, 2007. It was an afternoon of good food, good conversation, and gathering of friends both new and old.

This was also the 68th running of the Hollywood Gold Cup, saluting jockeys from the past, so it was a privilege to share the afternoon with many of the "old timers."

The fourth and eighth races were named after 1736 Family Crisis Center, and we had group photos taken at the winner's circle after both races. At the winnerıs circle, you get a chance to see the horses up close as they walk by. They are massive, breathtakingly gorgeous, and magnificent!

With deep appreciation, 1736 Family Crisis Center thanks Ron and Sheila Troupe and their family for hosting the event this year.

Thanks to sponsorships, ticket sales, and donations, the event netted $40,000. Sponsors included Toyota Financial Services, Avon Foundation, Keith Pomeroy, Sandy Barnett, Butch Schuman, Lucky Kats Inc., Stephen Campbell, Dr. Jim Slay, Neil and Heather Lieberman, Dr. and Mrs. James Castle, and Denny & Company LLP. Funds raised through this event help many abused and homeless women and children survive terrible life circumstances and conquer their obstacles toward achieving safe, productive lives.

We also acknowledge with heartfelt appreciation to the following people who provided fabulous door prizes: Lil Gary and azoffmusic Management for securing several concert tickets, Leyna Nguyen for securing hair salon gift certificates, and Dr. Wendi E. Knaak for donating gift certificates toward a chiropractic exam and treatment. A resounding thanks to Tamiko Nash, Miss California USA 2006, for her special appearance at the event.

We could not have had a Day at the Races without a venue, and we thank Hollywood Park for their outstanding service, excellent buffet, and courteous and professional staff.
